Tours Underground - there are three caverns of cathedral proportions, hand created by local slate miners. During your tour you will go about 150m into the hillside and 60m below ground, via a flight of 60 steps to the Underground Lake.
Visit this former slate mine, part of the Cornish Mining World Heritage site, where slate was both quarried and mined underground in Cornwall. Find out about the miners' ingenuity and skills, and how slate roofed the Industrial Revolution. You will go on a self-guided underground tour (may be guided in high seasons) to learn how the mine was worked, ending at the Underground Lake with its crystal clear blue/green water. Browse the comprehensive collection of minerals mined and quarried in the South West, after which you will descend a flight of 60 steps taking you about 150m into the hillside and 60m below ground.
Carnglaze Caverns is a constant 10°C underground, cool in Summer, warmer in Winter! A jumper and sensible footwear are recommended. As the Caverns are underground it makes for an ideal wet weather activity.
Wander through the Terrace Garden along its zigzag pathways leading up to the Enchanted Dell. Follow the Woodland Walk through Quarry Wood (3 acres of bluebells in Spring!) to a panoramic view of St Neot village, before looping back down to the main site: a round walk of approx. 25 minutes, or longer if you are counting the faeries! Picnic in the Walled Garden; browse the well-stocked Crystals and Crafts Shop; enjoy the tranquillity and listen to the birdsong! Children's trail information is available at the Ticket Office. A great day out for all the family.

Following a very successful concert over the past three years we are pleased to confirm that Mad Dog Mcrea returns to perform in The Rum Store, Carnglaze Caverns, for what will be a memorable evening as our Christmas concert.
Mad Dog Mcrea blend a unique mixture of folk rock, pop, gypsy jazz, bluegrass and ‘shake your ass’ music. From self-penned songs of adventure, drinking, love and life, to traditional songs of gypsies, fairies, legless pirates and black flies – Mad Dog never fail to capture their audience with their infectious songs.
Jiggery folkery, hokery pokery………… Mad Dog Mcrea raise hands, lift feet and start parties wherever they play with their spellbinding recipe of folk, pop, rock, jazz, bluegrass and ‘shake your ass’ music. Whisking up whistles, fiddles and mandolins to collide in a spectacular explosion of infectious fun, they demand you to dance.
Thanks to three storming gigs at Glastonbury 2013 (notably the Avalon Stage), the release of their official video ‘Happy Bus’, regular radio play by esteemed folk such as Mike Harding, and in no small part the utter dedication of their huge fan base – momentum is definitely gathering pace.
Mad Dog Mcrea’s name is firmly established on the live music scene, and they are in huge demand from festivals, live music venues and traffic wardens across the country.
The famous purple happy bus is fired up and ready for action, and there’s room for you – jump aboard!
