The Regal was acquired in July 1998, a logical step in both the expansion and protection of the Merlin empire. The Regal is a cinema and theatre operation and for over a decade has staged live shows for several weeks of the year in the multipurpose 600 seat auditorium. In 2001 the two shops next door to the cinema were purchased to develop an integrated bar and restaurant as well as the introduction of the Screen 7 concept which brought customers our first licensed screen.

In early 2011 the Regal was the third in the group to receive Digital 3D.

Following the completion of the latest £1.5m stage of a massive refurbishment of this art deco town centre landmark, the alterations have resulted in five modern cinema auditoria and a remodelled 650 seat cinema/live theatre within the existing original building.
 
Over the last five years the Regal has been totally transformed with substantial renovation to the structure of the building, new roof, a complete rewire, the addition of a bar and restaurant, reinstatement of the original open plan foyer, new toilets built and disabled access improvements made. Three of the new licensed auditoria also have individual armchairs and sofas, a popular concept that has been trialled successfully at some of the
company's other cinemas.
 
The Regal is in an ideal location, serving the entire west of the county, just a couple of minutes off of the A30 and with plenty of parking nearby which is free in the evenings. The Regal is also just two minutes from Redruth Railway station. Already attracting more than 100,000 people each year to the cinema this number is expected to double as live shows and a greater choice of films will now be on offer.
