The Basement in Padstow

The Basement is set back in a courtyard, with views overlooking the harbour from our alfresco restaurant area and comfortable seating within ‘the basement’. We are a young and passionate team who care about the service we offer. The Basement has consistently been voted the 2nd best restaurant in Padstow by our customers on ‘Trip Advisor’ for the last 5 years earning us the much revered hall of fame from TripAdvisor.

We prepare all of our food on the premises from the marmalade at breakfast through to the ice cream for your dessert in the evening. We use local suppliers and producers to enable us to provide high quality, local, seasonal produce, benefiting our community here in Padstow and Cornwall as a whole. There really is nothing we like more than a fisherman bringing in a bucket of fish or a local farmer turning up with a bag full of salad or vegetables.

We encourage our staff to portray their own personalities in their work which enables them to enjoy what they do and make for a relaxed, unobtrusive and informal dining experience. We welcome feedback from our customers as with this information we improve our business and evolve over time with the needs of our customers.

Influences for our food come from all over the world but essentially we produce British food which is aimed at a culinary one rosette level.  We pay particular attention to our presentation and the balance of flavours trying not to over complicate dishes.  Simple cooking executed to a high standard.
