  Shoreline Triathlon - Bude

  Every late June / early July since 1991 we've run the Shoreline Triathlon from Summerleaze Beach in Bude. The event has always been a huge success with a complete cross-section of competitors from absolute beginners and first-time triathletes right through to national team athletes.

  When designing this race we just looked at what Bude had to offer. The high tide bay at Summerleaze with the breakwater sheltering it from the Atlantic swell was always going to be perfect for the open water swim. The coast road out of Bude towards Widemouth Bay is both fast and hilly and with a return to Bude via the A39 it's a natural loop. The run through town and then along the canal towpath returning via Lynstone Road produces a grand finish along the Strand and then up the length of Summerleaze Car Park. Add to this a friendly atmosphere, great event T-shirts, medals for all finishers, plenty of categories and our own unique commentator and you have an event you'll want to come back to year after year.

  The fastest athletes will take around an hour to complete the course with everyone finished within 2 hours.

  Looe Raft Race - Looe

  Organised by dedicated Looe RNLI volunteers and proudly supported by the Looe Boat Owners Association (LBOA), the Looe Raft Race is back  and it’s set to be bigger, better, and wetter than ever!

  One of the most popular annual events in Looe, the raft race attracts hundreds of spectators who line the Banjo Pier and quaysides on both sides of the river to catch all the action.

  Watch teams navigate the river on their wildly creative and often hilariously unstable homemade rafts – it’s a unique and unforgettable family event in South East Cornwall.

  Mevagissey Feast Week - Mevagissey

  Mevagissey has celebrated the Feast of St Peter since 1754 and it has evolved into afantastic week long community event. The village invites locals and visitors to join in the celebrations which take place during the week in which the 29th June falls.

  It starts with Fish Sunday when delicious local food is cooked for you by our resident chefs at stands placed around the harbour, followed by an auction of freshly caught fish. Events In the week that follows will include brass, dance and rock bands performing live on stage, children’s entertainments, colourful parades, local choirs, traditional hymn singing around the village, a fishing boat race in the bay, a raft race in the harbour, several flora dances and an RNLI display!

  On the final Saturday there is a wonderful traditional village fete. Great fun and games for kids and adults with more food including cream teas and strawberries, plus a brass band. This is followed by the great Carnival parade through the village, with beautiful costumes, dancers, bands and floats of all kind. Live music onstage In the evening brings us to the grand finale, a firework display over the harbour with stirring musical accompaniment.

  Tosher's Race - Mevagissey

  TOSHER’S RACE
  The race takes it’s name from the local term given to the small traditional wooden boats which used to be commonplace in days gone by. Held on the first Sunday of Feast Week. Today many of the 64 strong Mevagissey fishing fleet take part. The boats make a fine spectacle dresed as they are in coloured bunting and flags of all description, loaded with their skippers and many friends, sounding their horns. The only true Tosher involved is Petrel, skippered by long standing timekeeper and race controller 

  Rod Ingram, who keeps an eagle eye on proceedings from his position inside the last marker buoy. Rod calculates the handicapped start times and sends the fleet on their way at specific times. The three mile race comprises two laps of the bay, following a course around laid marker buoys.

  The race ends in full view of the hordes of spectators gathered along the pier heads of Mevagissey outer harbour.

  Sea Salt and Sail - Mousehole

  The festival lasts over a three day weekend with a variety of different events, preformances and amusements providing a great day out for all the family.

  
   "Once upon a time you could look down on the channel between St. Clement's Island and Mousehole Harbour and see one of the largest Cornish fleets of luggers, heading out to their fishing grounds. Sea Salts and Sail will re-enact that scene as over forty traditional boats with similar tanned sails, leave the port, tacking back and forth inside and around the island. This festival really reveals Mousehole's close relationship with the sea. From kids paddling at low tide, sculling races, to the harbour packed full of historic vessels, it’s when the village really comes to life. It will be a very nostalgic scene whether you are a spectator on the shore or a participant under sail - be there! The best way to arrive is by classic boat, of course - I'll be on the 40' lugger Barnabas."
